For Sage Intacct cash management

Sage Intacct bank reconciliation automation for the lines your rules miss

The feed dropped three days, a deposit covers four receipts, and Amount to reconcile will not reach zero. Upload the bank statement and an Intacct cash account export and get back what matches, what is missing and what is posted twice.

No bank connection, no Marketplace add-on, nothing installed.

The short answer

Sage Intacct bank reconciliation matches bank feed or imported lines to Intacct transactions with the account's rule set, and you clear the rest by hand until Amount to reconcile is zero. When the feed is unreliable, the rules are thin or the account will not balance, matching the statement against an Intacct GL export first gives you the exceptions in minutes.

Where Sage Intacct bank reconciliation problems come from

Intacct's matching is good when the data arriving is clean and the rules are tuned. Most open items at month end trace back to one of four things, and none of them is fixed by clicking Auto-match again.

Bank feeds

Gaps after a reauthorization

A connection that needed a new login skips a few days or brings them in twice, and a reconnect with the wrong start date pulls in activity you already reconciled.

Rule sets

Rules built for last year

Match rules are written per pattern and per account. A new lockbox, a new processor or a new entity, and the lines fall through to manual.

Grouped lines

One deposit, many receipts

A $41,220.15 deposit covers six customer receipts posted separately. The amounts never equal one to one, so someone adds them up by hand.

Entities

Accounts spread across entities

Each account is reconciled in the entity that owns it. Twenty entities with two or three accounts each is sixty reconciliations before the consolidation can start.

How to reconcile a Sage Intacct bank account in four steps

  1. Export the cash account

Run the General Ledger report, or a GL account detail, for the bank's cash account in the entity that owns it and the statement month, and export to Excel. Keep the date, document number, description and debit and credit columns, or one signed amount. Department, location and customer columns can stay; they show up as context in the result.

  2. Get the statement, not the feed

Use the bank's own statement for the month: the PDF, or a CSV, XLSX, OFX, QFX, QBO, MT940 or CAMT.053 download. That way a gap or a duplicate in the feed shows up instead of being copied into the match. See supported formats.

  3. Six matching passes run

Exact amount and date, then reference or check number, then amount inside a date window, then grouped matches where several Intacct lines add up to one bank line to the cent, then duplicates and near matches such as transposed digits. No rules to write.

  4. Finish in Intacct

On the reconciliation page, filter and match or clear the paired items, post the fees and interest from the adjusting entries file, mark the doubled payment for reversal, bring Amount to reconcile to zero and select Reconcile. The next month starts from a clean outstanding list.

What you get back for each Intacct bank account

Matched list

What to clear, by document

Every statement line shows the Intacct document it paired with and the pass that paired it, so clearing is filtering and ticking, not searching.

Grouped deposits

Many receipts, one credit

Combinations of up to six lines from the 14 nearest by date are tested for an exact sum, the same engine as matching bank deposits to invoices.

Feed check

What the feed skipped

Because the statement is the source, bank lines that never arrived through the feed show up as missing instead of silently absent.

Duplicates

The same payment twice

Equal amounts within seven days of each other are flagged, the usual shape of a payment entered by hand and again from an import.

Adjusting entries

Fees and interest, ready to post

Bank-only lines come out as a CSV of adjusting entries you can turn into a journal entry import, so nothing is retyped.

Audit file

A report per account per month

A PDF and XLSX bank reconciliation report sits beside the Intacct one in the close binder, with the outstanding items listed.

Who uses it alongside Sage Intacct

Controllers at multi-entity companies

A group with a handful of entities, a busy operating account each and a close calendar that does not move. The Business plan covers five companies and 15 bank accounts for $149 a month, each with its own workspace and a status board for the close.

Teams with a bank Intacct will not connect

A regional bank with no feed, a closed account still being reconciled, an escrow or trust account the bank only reports on paper. The statement PDF is enough, no import file to build.

Outsourced accounting firms

Firms that run Intacct for nonprofit and SaaS clients and need to check a reconciliation or catch up months fast. See bank reconciliation for accountants and catch up bank reconciliation.

If your feeds are stable and your rule sets catch nearly everything, Intacct's own reconciliation is the right tool and you should keep using it. Matching first earns its keep on the accounts that do not behave: a bank without a feed, deposits that bundle many receipts, a month after a feed outage, a backlog before the audit, or the reconciliation that is off by an amount nobody can find. Sage Intacct bank reconciliation questions

How does bank reconciliation work in Sage Intacct?

You reconcile each checking, savings or credit card account in the entity where it was created. Bank lines arrive from a bank feed or an imported file and are matched by the account's rule set; the rest you match or clear by hand on the reconciliation page. When Amount to reconcile reaches zero, you select Reconcile, and the finished reconciliation can be reopened only with the right permissions.

Does Sage Intacct automate bank reconciliation?

Partly. With a bank feed or file import and a rule set applied to the account, match rules pair bank lines with existing Intacct transactions such as vendor payments and payroll, and create rules post bank fees, interest and transfers. Lines no rule covers, and accounts without a working feed, are still matched by hand, which is where most of the month-end time goes.

Why is my Sage Intacct bank reconciliation out of balance?

The usual causes are a feed that skipped or duplicated days after a reauthorization, a reconnect start date that pulled in activity you already reconciled, a bank fee or interest never entered, a payment posted twice, or a transaction in a currency other than the bank's, which does not appear for reconciliation. Matching the statement itself against a GL export lists each of those lines.

Can I reconcile Sage Intacct without a bank feed?

Yes. Intacct supports a manual reconciliation against the physical statement. BankReconciler reads the PDF or downloaded statement and an Excel export of the cash account, so nothing connects to the bank or to your Intacct company. You review the matched list and the exceptions, then clear the matched items in Intacct as usual.

What happens to the classic bank file import?

Sage says the classic import experience is going away no earlier than May 2026, with the Bank transaction assistant taking its place, and that custom API integrations are not affected. BankReconciler does not import into Intacct at all, so the change does not affect matching a statement against a GL export.

How much does it cost?

Starter is $49 a month or $288 a year for one company, three bank accounts and 1,500 transactions a month. Business is $149 a month for five companies and 15 accounts, and Firm is $399 a month for 25 companies and 75 accounts. You can run one real month before you pay.
